UNDER THE TREE selected for Toronto International Film Festival

Under the Tree, writer/director Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson‘s most recent feature, has been selected for the Contemporary World Cinema section of the Toronto International Film Festival. The festival will run from September 7 – 17.

Before screening in Toronto, Under the Tree will have its world premiere in the Orrizonti competition of the Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 30 – September 9.

Under the Tree is about a conflict that develops between neighbors over a large, beautiful tree that straddles their backyards. As the conflict intensifies, so too do the stakes for each of the neighbors.

Under the Tree is Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson's third feature, after Either Way (2011) and Paris of the North (2014). The film was written by Sigurdsson and Huldar Breidfjörd. It‘s produced by Grímar Jónsson, Sindri Páll Kjartansson and Thor Sigurjonsson for Netop Films. Under the Tree is a coproduction with the countries of Denmark, Poland and Germany.

International sales for the film are being handled by NewEurope Film Sales (jan@neweuropefilmsales.com).
