VIRGIN MOUNTAIN picks up Best Director prize in Cairo

Dagur Kári's Virgin Mountain, the recent winner of the Nordic Council Film Prize, won the Silver Pyramid for Best Director at the prestigious Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt.

Virgin Mountain is in the middle of a strong festival run. In addition to winning the Nordic Council Film Prize, the film had its international premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year, and has gone on to garner accolades at festivals all over the world, including the Tribeca Film Festival, where it scooped up three awards in the World Narrative Competition – Best Narrative Feature, Best Screenplay and Best Actor.

It has now won a total of 12 awards and has screened at festivals such as the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Mostra – Sao Paulo International Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival.
