WILMA wins Special Jury Prize at Flickerfest

Wilma, a short film by Haukur Björgvinsson, won Special Jury Prize at Flickerfest in Sydney, Australia, this past weekend. This is the film's third international award. Prior to Flickerfest, Wilma won the Audience Award for best film at Luststreifen Film Festival in Switzerland and an award for Best script at Face á Face Film Festival in France. 

The film had its premiere at Reykjavík International Film Festival in 2019 and tells the story of a young boy who meets her estranged trailer park father for the first time. What his father doesn't know is that he now identifies as a girl.

Wilma was written and directed by Haukur Björgvinsson and produced by Björgvinsson, Sæmundur Thór Helgason, Kjartan Thór Thórdarson and Chanel Björk Sturludóttir. The film stars Snævar Valdimarsson Steffensen, Bragi Árnason, María Birta Bjarnadóttir, Anna Hafthórsdóttir and Snorri Ásmundsson.
