WINTER BROTHERS wins top prize at CPH PIX

Winter Brothers, writer/director Hlynur Pálmason‘s Danish/Icelandic debut feature, won the New Talent Grand PIX at the recently concluded CPH PIX in Copenhagen, the festival‘s top prize. This is the film‘s sixth international award since premiering at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland last August, where four of those awards were won.

The jury‘s motivation read as follows: „We are delighted to award the New Talent Grand PIX to a filmmaker, who's confident and daring use of image and sound captivated our senses completely. We were excited by the choices this filmmaker made in every regard, from casting to costumes, colour and production design. We eagerly await his next work. The New Talent Grand PIX goes to Hlynur Pálmason for Winter Brothers.“

Winter Brothers is written and directed Hlynur Pálmason. It is produced by Danish production company Masterplan Pictures and Anton Máni Svansson for Icelandic production company Join Motion Pictures.

Winter Brothers is a brother odyssey set in a worker‘s environment during a cold winter. We follow two brothers – their routines, habits and rituals – and a violent feud that erupts between them and another family.
