DRIVING MUM'S Thröstur Leó Gunnarsson claims Best Actor at Bari Film Festival

Icelandic actor Thröstur Leó Gunnarsson earned the International Award for Best Actor accolade at BIF&ST, the Bari International Film & TV Festival, for his compelling portrayal in Hilmar Oddsson's dark comedy, Driving Mum.

In his winning performance, Gunnarsson portrays Jón, a man who embarks on a journey across the country with his mother's body in the backseat, in order to fulfill her last wish. 

This is the third international award that Driving Mum has received. Other prizes include the Grand Prix and Best Original Score at the 26th annual Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF).

With the award, Thröstur Leó Gunnarsson joins the esteemed ranks of past recipients such as Max von Sydow, Helen Mirren, and Roberto Benigni. The award was presented in the International Panorama competition of BIF&ST, the jury was composed of Jafar Panahi (honorary president), Jean Gili (president), Bettina Brokemper, Valeria Cavalli, Salvatore Maira, Pippo Mezzapesa, Grazyna Torbicka.
